Ms. Kara (Schillerstrom) Mather attended St. Olaf College and St. Cloud State
University, where she earned her B.S. in Music Education. She is currently entering her ninth year as being the Director of Orchestras at Technical High School in St. Cloud, Minnesota. She has studied violin with Carol Ferkalo in Westland, Michigan, James Berg of G.T.C.Y.S. in Minnesota, Lucinda Marvin at St. Olaf College and, most recently, with Dr. Marion Judish at St. Cloud State University, where she was the recipient of numerous music scholarships. Kara has been playing violin with the St. Cloud Symphony Orchestra since 2001 and held principal chairs while performing with the St. Cloud State University Orchestra. She is also the Founding Director of the Monticello Community Strings Orchestra, an eighty-plus-member string orchestra that is currently finished their 18th Summer Concert Season. Kara has also worked as Co-Director of the St. Cloud Symphony YOUTH Orchestra & St. Cloud State University Youth Orchestra. She has been teaching privately and free-lancing for over twenty years, working with students of all musical abilities and ages. In her free time, Kara enjoys spending time with her husband, Todd, and their three children (7-year-old daughter, Isabel, 4 year-old son, Caleb, & 1 year-old Elaina), traveling, fishing, reading, and attending concerts.
